| It’s been nearly two decades since My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult first emerged on the underground music scene after two Chicago club kids took the title and soundtrack for an art film project they were working on, and transmuted it into one of rock’s most influential alternative acts.
In hopes a recording deal, singer Groovie Mann and keyboardist/producer Buzz McCoy approached industrial indie label Wax Trax Records with their unusual sound, which blends the use of obscure movie dialogue, lush orchestrations, tongue-in-cheek vocals and heavy dance rhythms. Intrigued with this unique approach to making music, the duo was given the go ahead and began recording their first album
I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits in the spring of 1988. They enlisted some of their night-crawler friends to make up a live band, and hit the road that summer with an over the top stage show full of glitz, glam, tease and sleaze.
TKK has led a very busy and diverse career throughout the years. They have written twelve full length albums and toured the world extensively, sharing billing with the likes of Souixsie And The Banshees, Lords Of Acid, KMFDM, Ministry and Marilyn Manson to name but a few. Their music has also been featured in a wide variety of film and television such as director Paul Verhoeven’s naughty “SHOWGIRLS”, animator Ralph Bakshi’s “COOL WORLD”, 1995’s “THE FLINTSTONES MOVIE” and even the Brandon Lee cult classic “THE CROW” - in which the band also performs, making their silver screen debut!
With their one of a kind “industrial-disco-punk-funk” sound, THRILL KILL KULT have certainly stood the test of time and are true pioneers of today’s alternative music scene.
